An advisor from a Charles Schwab office near Denver pleaded not guilty recently to weapons-related felony assault and menacing charges tied to alleged domestic violence.
Terrance L. Hayes, 31, was charged in Denver County Court last month with first-degree assault after allegedly causing serious bodily injury with a deadly weapon and menacing with a real or simulated weapon, his Financial Industry Regulatory Authority BrokerCheck record shows. He pleaded not guilty to both.
Online court records indicate the case (# 26CR01942), which also includes a misdemeanor assault charge, arises from an alleged domestic violence incident on April 20 and involves a protective order. It's unclear whether the order existed before the charges were filed. Court records also show that Hayes posted $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 22.
Hayes has been registered with Schwab since 2023 and with Schwab Wealth Advisory since last year, according to BrokerCheck, which shows he is affiliated with an office in Lone Tree, Colorado. His LinkedIn page identifies him as an associate wealth advisor and lists him as a former Marine Corps officer.
CityWire previously reported on Hayes' arrest and not-guilty pleas.
"We do not publicly disclose information about current or former employees in order to maintain workplace privacy," a Schwab spokesperson told ThinkAdvisor on Wednesday.
Hayes' lawyer didn't immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
