Mercer Advisors, a national RIA with about $96 billion in assets under management, has introduced a Women & Wealth practice to address women's growing need for financial advice.
The practice, led by Laura Combs, executive managing partner and 17-year veteran at Mercer Advisors, is "a formal business line backed by dedicated leadership and firm resources to invest in the infrastructure, expertise and talent needed to better serve women clients, while creating a focused platform for advisors who specialize in supporting them," Mercer said in a statement.
"Women are living longer than men, 80% of widows leave their advisor within a year of their spouse's death, and 95% of interspousal wealth transfers go to women," the firm said, adding that women in the U.S. are projected to control $34 trillion in assets by 2030.
Combs also helped build the firm's Wealth Path offering to extend family office services to mass affluent families and was instrumental in launching InvestHERs, the firm's program dedicated to advancing women as investors and professionals.
Women make up nearly 50% of Mercer's client-facing team and represent 40% of its executive leadership, according to the firm.
