Former UBS advisors Denis Cleary and Greg Devine have launched a new independent registered investment advisor firm dubbed 71 West Capital Partners.
While at UBS, Cleary and Devine ran a Boston- and Los Angeles-based private wealth practice with clients in 35 states and $6 billion in total assets. Within the new RIA, Cleary will serve as CEO and operate from the firm's Boston office, while Devine will lead the firm's Los Angeles office.
As an independent RIA, 71 West will continue to serve a core clientele of entrepreneurs, business owners, C-suite executives, families and philanthropic organizations. The new firm will utilize BNY Pershing for custody, clearing and related services.
Cleary and Devine have worked together for nearly 20 years, according to their announcement, starting at Goldman Sachs in 2006. In 2020, they moved their business to UBS.
Cleary began his career as a corporate attorney before serving as executive director of a large private operating foundation. At Goldman, he was a managing director and regularly recognized for strong growth performance.
Devine started his wealth management career in 2004, following a career in Silicon Valley's technology sector. He has since utilized that experience to win and serve technology entrepreneur clients and their families.
Joining Cleary and Devine at 71 West are team members Abigail Harris, Matthew Kirshner, Chris Carbone, William Corman, Spencer Danziger and Nolan Morr.
