The endowments of the eight Ivy League universities recorded returns on their investments in the 11% to 12% range in fiscal 2025, ended June, according to Markov Processes International, a provider of technology, research and analytics.
These returns were typical of most endowments in MPI’s coverage. However, three institutions on the firm’s Elite Endowment Tracker reported significantly better results: University of Michigan’s $21 billion endowment returned 15.5% in fiscal 2025; Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with $27 billion in assets, 14.8%; and Stanford University’s $48 billion endowment, 14.3%.
All eight Ivies’ performance improved year over year, some by several percentage points, and all saw increases in assets under management.
