LPL Financial says it has introduced an educational platform for its financial advisors focused on alternative investments.
The Alts Learning Hub includes content and resources from LPL, fund sponsors and industry experts on investing in alternative assets, as well as access to continuing education credits in partnership with the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association.
“As investors seek sophisticated and specialized ways to differentiate their portfolios and manage volatility outside of the stock-bond model, LPL is committed to providing our advisors with the best-in-class alternative investment resources,” said Cheri Belski, executive vice president and head of Investment Management Solutions.
The demand for illiquid alternative assets sold to investors via advisors is expected to grow from $1.4 trillion to $2.4 trillion over the next five years, according to Cerulli Associates.
The Alts Learning Hub, now available to all of LPL's financial advisors across its different affiliation models, was designed to complement the firm’s other resources, such as LPL Alts Connect.
The broker-dealer serves over 29,000 financial advisors and the wealth management practices of about 1,200 financial institutions — collectively working with some $1.8 trillion in brokerage and advisory assets.
The firm announced March 31 that it was buying Commonwealth Financial Network for $2.7 billion.
