Nationwide — a company with a marketing program powerful enough that even children have heard that the company is on their side — has named Kristi Martin Rodriguez to lead Nationwide Financial marketing.

Rodriguez has been the head of the Columbus, Ohio-based insurer's Nationwide Retirement Institute, an in-house research center. The institute will become part of the financial services marketing team.

Rodriguez will succeed Ann Bair, who is now Nationwide's chief marketing officer.

Rodriguez has a bachelor's degree from Hampton University.

She started out in financial services as a marketing executive at UnitedHealth and Aetna, then joined Nationwide's retirement plan marketing organization in 2015.

She serves on the board of T.R.I.P., a nonprofit organization that fights poverty.
