The Financial Planning Association has launched a cybersecurity certificate program for financial planners, it announced Wednesday.

The program, called Cybersecurity for Financial Planners: An FPA Certificate Program, was developed in partnership with cybersecurity firms FCI Cyber and Buckler LLC.

Now open for enrollment, the program includes six 30-minute modules. FPA members can enroll for a fee of $199, while the nonmember cost is $329.

“The launch of the Cybersecurity for Financial Planners certificate program reflects FPA’s commitment to equipping financial planners with the necessary tools to safeguard their practices and clients in an ever-changing modern world,” said 2025 FPA President Paul Brahim in a statement.

“With this certificate program, participants will not only enhance their understanding of cybersecurity but also ensure the integrity and trustworthiness of their practices,” Brahim explained.

The program covers key aspects of a robust cybersecurity framework and will provide participants with the tools to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

It also addresses the specific regulatory requirements set by organizations such as the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Securities and Exchange Commission, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Internal Revenue Service.

In addition to the educational content, the program includes real-world applications and self-assessments. Participants will earn 3.5 CFP CE credits after completing the course.
