Citi's wealth management business has chosen Morgan Stanley executive Dawn Nordberg to head integrated client engagement, a new function meant to boost ties with other units at the financial giant, effective in September.

Andy Sieg, who became Citi's head of wealth last September after leading Merrill Lynch's wealth management business for years, announced the appointment Wednesday on LinkedIn.

"Dawn and her team will help elevate our partnership with Citi's strong investment, corporate and commercial banking teams, connecting Wealth to more of Citi's unmatched client franchise," he wrote.

Nordberg currently serves as managing director, head of strategic client management at Morgan Stanley, where she's held different positions over 25 years.

Sieg told employees in a letter that Citi wealth management is launching integrated client engagement to strengthen connections with colleagues in Citi's banking business.

"In addition to focusing on the shared coverage of Citi clients across Wealth and Banking, Dawn will lead a new market planning function for Wealth, prioritizing where to add client-facing talent in the months and years ahead," Sieg wrote. "Dawn will also head our Growth Accelerator initiative, helping us increase the investment assets clients hold with Citi."

Nordberg built deep expertise in both wealth and cross-functional partnerships at Morgan Stanley, most recently serving as group head, strategic client management for the firm's private wealth management business, he said.

"Creating the Integrated Client Engagement function is the next step in bringing all of Citi to our clients and deepening our relationships," Sieg said.

As Citi Wealth seeks to grow amid new wealth creation, he said, "It will be critical to partner across each of our five businesses in order to effectively leverage this firm's extraordinary reach."
