E-Trade customers appeared to be encountering trouble accessing the investing platform Wednesday afternoon, according to social media reports.
Website monitoring service Downdetector indicated it had logged more than 1,250 problem reports about E-Trade after 3 p.m. Eastern Time, and users on X, formerly Twitter, suggested they were facing glitches trying to use the trading platform.
Downdetector indicated 85% of the E-Trade problem reports involved login trouble.
"How can @etrade be down? This is a major problem," one X user posted at 3:10 p.m. Another responded that the E-Trade app worked but not the website.
Representatives from E-Trade and its parent, Morgan Stanley, didn't immediately respond to emails from ThinkAdvisor seeking comment on the situation.
