A string of papers have been published recently that could lead researchers to develop a new kind of flu vaccine – a universal vaccine. Don't get too excited, however. The idea that such a thing is possible is an important shift to the flu fight, but it could still be years – even a lifetime – before a universal flu vaccine becomes available.
