According to the Centers for Disease Control, the annual flu season costs the United States about $10.1 billion in direct health care costs for hospital visits and outpatient visits for adults. And while getting a flu vaccine is a great way to manage flu risk, the simple truth is that many people neglect to do so. And as this year's flu season appears to be a major one, what can be done to stay healthy? A company named Help Remedies has developed an interesting new Facebook app, Help! I Have the Flu, which scans your news feed for keywords used by your friends (such as "feel terrible," and "run down,") and scans recent photos for dark circles under the eyes to determine who among your friends is a prime suspect for having the flu and who deserves a suspicious look.
