The mortgage industry has been anxiously awaiting new rules by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that will inhibit the type of reckless lending that was one of the leading causes of the financial crisis. The rules, to be released today, hope to find harmony between the sloppy lending practices of 10 years ago and the stringent rules that were a reaction to them, who some think are hampering the housing market and in turn, the overall recovery.
