Dodd-Frank has its detractors and University of Pennsylvania Law School professor David Skeel is one of them. Skeel argues in his new book, The New Financial Deal: Understanding the Dodd-Frank Act and Its (Unintended) Consequences that the regulation of derivatives was needed but the government partnership with financial institutions, ones the general public has learned are "too big to fail" and the impromptu intervention of regulators that the law allows will have a negative effect on both the industry and the country as a whole.
