In a paper published by the Center for American progress, the deal passed by Congress to avert the fiscal cliff will raise a significant amount of revenue over the next decade, but it will not be nearly enough to balance the budget. The current tax increases are, in reality, fairly slight compared to those in years past, meaning that in the coming years, tax hikes on everybody else look like a matter of when, not if.
