Nearly a century ago, British printing company Parker-Holladay created a series of motivational posters that offered the wisdom of Bill Jones, a fictional character meant to symbolize a white-collar everyman whose can-do spirit could overcome the negativity that dogs even the most ambitious sales rep. And while these posters – more than 300 of them – provided plenty of workplace inspiration, they also informed an entire Arts and Crafts movement that influenced style for years to come. In an age of irony, where what's old becomes the new cool, Bill Jones is very cool, indeed.
