The Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC) has created a Center for Accountable Care.
The PCPCC, Washington, represents large employers, provider groups, consumer groups and others with an interest in emphasizing the role of patient-centered primary care physicians in delivering and managing health care.
The Center for Accountable Care will promote use of patient-center primary care in the new accountable care organizations (ACOs), which are supposed to reward groups of providers for joining to improve the quality and hold down the cost of a patient's care.
One of the center co-chairs will be Dana Safran, a senior vice president for performance measurement and improvement at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Boston.
