The shootings of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and others in Tucson, Ariz., have led House Republicans to postpone consideration of H.R. 2, the Repeal the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act bill.

H.R. 2 originally was set to come to the floor Jan. 12.

"All legislation currently scheduled to be considered by the House of Representatives next week is being postponed so that we can take whatever actions may be necessary in light of today's tragedy," House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., said Saturday in a statement.

Jared Lee Loughner shot 20 people at a Giffords constituent meeting in a supermarket and killed 6, officials say. The people killed included Christina Taylor Green, U.S. District Judge John Roll; Gabe Zimmerman, Giffords' community outreach director; as well as a 9-year-old girl who was born Sept. 11, 2001. Giffords, D-Ariz., is in critical condition.

Patricia Maisch, a woman who tried to stop Loughner from re-loading, mentioned H.R. 2 Sunday on Fox News. "My hope is that the Republicans will stop naming bills very hateful things like the 'job-killing' whatever the rest of that bill is," Maisch said.
