College students understand that they need health insurance, but they don't know much about it.
Marketers at eHealthInsurance, a unit of eHealth Inc., Mountain View, Calif., have published that finding in a summary of results from a recent survey of 532 U.S. college students.
About 62% said they would rather live with their parents and have health coverage than live on their own without health coverage, and 29% listed health insurance as the most important employee benefit.
About 85% said they expect their first "real world" job to provide health coverage.
But fewer than half said they thought they understand health insurance terms. Only 44% could define "deductible," and only 29% could define "premium."
