The weak economy is helping a worksite carrier recruit sales representatives.
Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company, Columbia, S.C., a unit of Unum Group Corp., Chattanooga, Tenn., says it has achieved a 37% growth in the number of new sales reps in January and February.
The volume of sales generated by new benefits reps has increased 75%, Colonial Life reports.
In 2008, the number of new reps grew 28%, and the amount of business generated by new reps rose 60%, the company says.
