The American Savings Education Council says a recent promotional effort seems to have paid off.

ASEC, Washington, helped organize America Saves Week, an event that started Feb. 24.

More than 500,000 people saw America Saves Week information on the Web, ASEC reports.

The campaign also attracted the participation of about 600 associations, agencies, financial institutions and employers.

About 75,000 people attended 1,800 America Saves Week events, and 25,000 people enrolled as "savers" through the national campaign or through affiliated local campaigns, ASEC says.
