Index annuity sales were down in the first quarter of 2007, according to the Advantage Index Sales Market Report, issued by Advantage Compendium. The $5.73 billion in sales marked a 9 percent drop from the same period last year and a 4 percent drop from the previous quarter. The top 10 carriers in the first quarter were as follows:
