Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company's Center for Behavioral Research has come out with a white paper on methods for getting workers to contribute to 401(k) plans.

The briefing paper includes discussions of a variety of participant education techniques, such as a strategy of contracting participants at least 3 times at intervals of about 25 days, and a strategy of sending participants pre-filled tear-off postcards.
