A Minneapolis insurer says it will be joining its state's effort to encourage residents to buy long term care insurance.

Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, Minneapolis, a unit of Allianz S.E., Munich, says it will be selling products such as its Allianz Generation Protector II policy through the Minnesota Long Term Care Partnership program.

Consumers who buy a set amount of LTC benefits through the program can keep that same amount of benefits if they end up exhausting private LTC benefits and needing help from Medicaid or another state-sponsored program, Allianz Life says.
