A health insurer says it has first-hand evidence that aggressive prevention campaigns can pay off.
Researchers at Highmark Inc., Pittsburgh, have found that Highmark's own wellness program saved about $1.65 in health care expenses for every dollar spent on the program over a 4-year period, the company says.
Employees spent more on screenings and medicine but less on inpatient hospital care, Highmark reports.
