A property-casualty insurer known for insuring camps, gymnastics schools and child care centers will be helping to protect self-insured employers against catastrophic losses.
Markel Insurance Company, Richmond, Va., says it has decided to enter the medical stop-loss market after studying the market for 5 years.
Markel will start by looking for stop-loss brokers and independent plan administrators who can help Markel with case-level underwriting and pricing, Markel says.
