Meeker Sharkey Associates, Cranford, N.J., had been sold to Summit Bancorp in 2000, one of 5 companies to merge with Summit's Financial Services Group to create Summit Insurance Advisors.
Reincarnated as an independent brokerage, the firm will be headed by Tom Sharkey Sr. as chairman.
