Employee-paid short-term disability insurance and employee-paid supplemental health insurance products sold well in 2006.

Sales of voluntary STD insurance increased 17%, to $818 million, while sales of voluntary health products increased 12%, to $739 million, according to Eastbridge Associates Inc., Avon, Conn.

Although voluntary STD sales accounted for about 74% of voluntary disability insurance sales in 2006, voluntary long-term disability insurance sales were up 54%, Eastbridge reports.
