Young people may want more financial advice from their parents.
Researchers at Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, have published that conclusion in a summary of a recent survey of 1,108 U.S. college students and 1,086 parents of college students.
About 63% of the parents said they make a consistent effort to teach children about personal finance, but only 41% of the college students said they are getting personal finance education from their parents, the Hartford researchers report.
About 76% of the students said they wish they had more help preparing for their financial future, and only 24% of the students said they feel very well-prepared to handle post-graduate financial challenges, the researchers report.
