The federal government is in the best position to help people without health coverage, according to 38% of U.S. adults.
Another 16% of U.S. adults say "no one" can help the uninsured, according to researchers at PricewaterhouseCoopers L.L.P., New York.
About 13% of the survey participants rated health insurers as the best source of assistance; 10% named state government; and just 5% named private employers.
Other survey findings:
- 86% of Americans think the fact that so many people lack health coverage increases health care costs for everyone.
- 86% cite administrative paperwork as a major factor contributing to high health care costs, and 67% cite "greed."
