A health insurer has agreed to pay $50,000 to resolve regulators' concerns about the theft of policyholders' data.

Two separate incidents of theft gave the thieves access to Social Security numbers, bank routing numbers and other personal financial information for 126 North Dakota residents who have Medicare drug coverage and other coverage from a unit of Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky., according to officials at the North Dakota Insurance Department.

Humana has agreed to address regulators' concerns by paying $50,000 to North Dakota and providing credit monitoring services for 1 year for every affected customer who wants credit monitoring services, officials say.

Humana must provide an additional year of monitoring for customers who experience any irregularities in their credit reports, officials say.
