Health care seems to rank somewhere between crime and energy costs on the government action priority lists of older Free State voters.

A Baltimore-based chapter of AARP has published data supporting that conclusion in a summary of results from a telephone survey of 802 Maryland registered voters ages 50 and over.

About 89% of the participants said it is extremely or very important for the state of Maryland to work on making communities safer by reducing crime.

The share ranking state government action extremely or very important was 79% for access to health care and 74% for regulating energy costs.

Only 63% of older Maryland voters say they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supported initiatives to expand health coverage for the uninsured, but 70% say it is extremely or very important that the state expand health care coverage for the uninsured, and 72% said they are more likely to vote for a candidate who supports a plan to make health care more affordable and more accessible.
