The American Academy of Actuaries has developed a report discussing the risk factors that regulators might consider when evaluating risk-based capital levels for Medicare Part D prescription drug plans.[@@]
The new report, based on recommendations published in September, includes actual numerical values for the proposed risk factors, according to the AAA, Washington.
The proposed RBC formula structure includes 2 underwriting factors that apply to analysis of standard coverage, 4 discount factors that reflect various federal government risk-reduction mechanisms, and a underwriting risk factor for analysis of premiums paid for supplemental drug benefits.
