A major insurance technology standards group is using cartoons to remind insurance industry executives about the importance of standards.[@@]
The Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development, Pearl River, N.Y., is running print ads in major U.S. and European insurance trade publications that feature cartoons by Peter Steiner, a regular contributor to The New Yorker.
The cartoons promote standards by showing just how much can go wrong in a world without standards.
ACORD also will be using the Steiner cartoons to tempt executives to a section of its Web site, at http://cartoons.acord.org
Executives who visit the site can see the Steiner cartoons and e-mail them others. The site also offers detailed information about the importance of standards and ACORD's standards programs.
Gregory Maciag, ACORD's president, is contributing to the campaign by publishing a book on the value and future of standards, ACORD says.
