NU Online News Service, April 30, 2003, 5:08 p.m. EDT – Penn Treaty American Corp., Allentown, Pa., has promoted Patrick Patterson to executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

Penn Treaty sells long-term care insurance and other products aimed at older consumers.

Patterson has been president of Penn Treaty's agency subsidiary, United Insurance Group Agency Inc., since Penn Treaty bought it in 1999. Patterson founded UIG, an agency that specializes in the sale of senior market insurance products, in 1980.

Before 1980, Patterson was an agent and sales manager at Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance Company, Chicago.

Penn Treaty also announced that Robert McClellan will be the new president and chief executive officer of UIG. McClellan, who was UIG's executive vice president, began working for UIG in 1985.
