NU Online News Service, March 10, 2003, 4:43 p.m. EST – Citizens Inc., Austin, Texas, has agreed to acquire Mid-American Alliance Corp., Jefferson City, Mo., for about $8.2 million in stock.
Mid-American is the parent of Mid-American Century Life Insurance Company, a small Missouri life insurer, and Security Alliance Insurance Company, a small Arkansas life insurance company.
Citizens closed on the acquisition of another insurer, First Alliance Corp., Lexington, Ky., in February.
