NU Online News Service, Oct. 31, 10:25 a.m. – The Reader's Digest Association, Inc., Pleasantville, N.Y., today announced a new strategic relationship with GE Financial's Partnership Marketing Group to market a broad array of consumer insurance products to Reader's Digest customers in the United States.

Under the relationship, Reader's Digest Financial Services will exclusively endorse to its customer base a portfolio of GE Financial company products including Simplified Issue Term Life Insurance, Juvenile Life Insurance, Modified Whole Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment.

Reader's Digest and GE Financial, Richmond, Va., plan to develop a range of communication vehicles and targeted promotions including a co-branded Web site.

The products will be underwritten by Union Fidelity Life Insurance, a GE Financial company.

The alliance is part of Reader's Digest's expansion into financial services and other affinities in a growth strategy to leverage its brand, direct marketing expertise and consumer database. Reader's Digest has various other financial services ventures in the United States and around the world, the company says.

The U.S. ventures include separate alliances with Liberty Mutual, Boston, PacifiCare Health Systems, Cypress, Calif., Physicians Mutual, Omaha, Neb., The Vanguard Group, Valley Forge, Pa., and a Reader's Digest MasterCard alliance with First USA, Wilmington, Del.
