NU Online News Service, April 25, 6:23 p.m. – Prudential Financial Inc., Newark, N.J., says it is easing its impaired-risk underwriting rules for life insurance applicants who have had prostate cancer or test positive for hepatitis B or hepatitis C.
The changes affect applicants for policies from Prudential's Pruco Life Insurance Company and Pruco Life Insurance Company of New Jersey units.
Applicants with a history of prostate cancer may be considered for life insurance after they have completed treatment, show no current evidence of disease, and maintain a program of routine follow-up care, Prudential says.
When evaluating applicants with hepatitis B or C, two liver disorders, Prudential will now consider factors that could lead to a better prognosis for some applicants, the company says.
