Three former broker-dealer executives have opened a consulting firm focused on serving independent advisors and independent firms.

According to Bridgemark Strategies CEO and Co-Founder Jeff Nash, “Gone are the days when a so-called ‘recruiter’ working under a simple transactional model could support the delivery of an effective solution set for advisor transitions, home office executive recruiting or M&A support.”

Advisors and firms need to work with professionals who can offer them a more “strategic and longer-term approach” to business and talent transitions, explained Nash, who recently led the Nash Consulting Group (2013-2017) and earlier was senior vice president of business development, business consulting and advisor transitions at LPL Financial (1999-2012).

Nash is working with James Sorey, formerly head of recruiting for Lincoln Financial Network (2015-2017). Sorey spent much of his career at LPL (2002-2015) and now is head of Bridgemark’s executive-search unit.

“Aligning the right talent with the right position within broker-dealer and RIA home office teams has escalated in complexity,” Sorey explained in a statement.

“In this new normal, independent broker-dealers and RIAs will be best served in working with a consulting partner that understands how to create executive recruiting outcomes that truly support long-term growth strategies. We have created Bridgemark at this critical time to be that partner,” he said.

Nash and Sorey are partnering with Chris DeFrank, who was national sales manager for LPL’s business development department from 2008 to 2016. He joined LPL in 1997.

Bridgemark Strategies also hired Victoria Printz and Sean McMaster as vice presidents of advisor consulting. They both join the group from LPL, where they had been senior recruiters.

The new firm is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and plans to have an office in Boston; both these locations also are where LPL has its main campuses.
