Education affects how well workers save for retirement.
Researchers at the Employee Benefit Research Institute, Washington, have published data concerning the relationship between education levels and retirement in savings in an analysis based on Retirement Confidence Survey data.
The researchers found 92% of survey participants who have at least a bachelor's degree say they are saving for retirement.
Only 70% of the participants with some college but no degree and 66% of the participants who a high school diploma or less reported saving for retirement.
Retirement savings also correlated with income.
About 93% of workers making $75,000 per year or more and 80% making from $35,000 to $74,999 are saving for retirement, but only 49% of survey participants making less than $35,000 are saving for retirement.
