America's Health Insurance Plans reports that it has had great success at enlisting consumers in efforts to protect Medicare Advantage plans from critics and budget cutters in Congress.
AHIP, Washington, says membership in the Coalition for Medicare Choices has increased by about 100,000, to 350,000, in the past month.
AHIP created the coalition in 1999 to organize grassroots support for beneficiaries of private Medicare plans.
