The California Association of Realtors has picked a unit of Wellpoint Inc., Indianapolis, to provide its member group health insurance program.
Blue Cross of California, Thousand Oaks, Calif., will replace Blue Shield of California, San Francisco, the company that has been serving as the group health vendor for CAR, Los Angeles, for 7 years.
Blue Shield, which now covers 8,000 of CAR's 200,000 members, decided to terminate its participation in the program May 31, CAR says.
Blue Cross coverage will take over June 1, CAR says.
