NU Online News Service, May 21, 2003, 5:01 p.m. EDT – Conseco Inc., Carmel, Ind., says the U.S. bankruptcy court in Chicago has given it permission to postpone the voting deadline on its reorganization plan to June 6, from today, and to push back the date of its confirmation hearing to June 13, from May 28.

"The company sought the extensions based on its belief that by consensually resolving a number of non-economic issues with several objecting parties, it will ultimately reduce the amount of time necessary for the court to conduct the confirmation hearing," Conseco says.

Conseco says it has informed state insurance regulators about the extensions.
