For many retirees considering residence overseas, affordability is the prime consideration in choosing a destination, according to InternationalLiving.com.
“The idea of going overseas to a place where the living is good and the costs are low is more timely than ever,” Jennifer Stevens, IL’s executive editor, said in a statement.
Moving abroad can provide a well-balanced, affordable life for people who are at a crossroads in the wake of the pandemic, which has just entered its third year, Stevens said.
International Living recently published its annual global retirement index, which examines 25 safe, good-value destinations beyond the U.S. or Canada. The index is developed from statistics and on-the-ground intelligence, experience and opinion provided by the publication’s contributors around the globe.
IL ranks index countries across 10 categories and scores them on a scale of 1 to 100. For cost of living in each country, the publication’s correspondents verify specific costs for a variety of items, including rent, utilities and household help; gym memberships; transport and travel; and unexpected costs that may arise with living abroad.
