Raymond James’ employee-advisor channel has named its top branch and complex managers of the year.

Michael O’Meara, who leads the Midwest complex, and Dan Jones, head of the Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, branch received their awards recently during a branch manager conference in St. Petersburg.

The annual awards go to two out of 240-plus complex and branch managers with Raymond James & Associates, which includes close to 3,000 employee advisors. The winners are picked based on nominations from the field and endorsements from divisional and regional directors.

O’Meara, for instance, joined Raymond James over a decade ago to open the first RJA branch in St. Louis. He has since opened four more offices in the Midwest and “has been a perennial leader in all metrics of manager performance, particularly in recruiting,” according to RJA, which is led by Tash Elwyn.

The complex manager is “a strong advocate for his advisors and all the associates in his offices. He is always looking to create a service-first mentality in his offices, while at the same time focusing on the growth of those under his supervision – his retention of advisors has been outstanding,” Elwyn said in a statement.

Two years ago, O’Meara began leading the Midwest complex, which includes 11 offices and close to $7 billion in client assets in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Southern Illinois.

“I am honored to receive this award and recognition on behalf of our entire team of outstanding managers, advisors and support staff. It’s a privilege to work at a firm like Raymond James with its strong values and a focus on doing what is right for our clients and advisors,” O’Meara said in a statement.

Top Branch Leader

As for Jones, he started his Raymond James career in 2001 when he joined the office in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. Eight years later, he was promoted to branch manager of the Jenkintown office.

Under his leadership, the branch boosted its revenue by more than 90% in 2016, the firm says, while keeping all of its advisors and having “a spotless audit with zero compliance issues.” Jones also helped the branch recruit an advisor with nearly $7 million in revenue and over $1.3 billion in assets.

“Dan’s accomplishments are even more impressive, given the adversity he has overcome. In 1999, he was in a terrible car accident and doctors told his wife he wouldn’t live. Ten months and two operations later, however, he was back at work, but in a wheelchair,” Elwyn said.

The branch manager also is “a consummate volunteer,” according to the executive, “and has been recognized by numerous organizations, both local and national, for his philanthropy and good works, particularly in the area of spinal cord injury research.”

Jones says he feels “very humbled” to have received the Branch Manager of the Year award. “I could not have achieved this recognition without tremendous support from my operations manager Jen Gazey, my assistant Kim Pepe, and so many others in the firm who continue to help me in this role,” he said.

Raymond James Private Client Group has $585.6 billion in client assets and about 7,100 advisors.
