The carriers selling private “qualified health plan” coverage through the Washington Healthplanfinder exchange collected premium payments for 86,031 enrollees by Jan. 23.
The state-based exchange has been averaging 6,500 new paid enrollments per week since Jan. 9.
Open enrollment started Oct. 1. The original application deadline for QHP coverage that started Jan. 1 was Dec. 15. The state later moved the deadline to Dec. 23.
The exchange coped with enrollment system glitches by letting consumers complete applications for Jan. 1 coverage after Dec. 23, but required them to at least start applications by then.
