5 things you can do today to promote your agent Web site

When talking about selling insurance online, we often get swept away by complex and cutting edge strategies to grow sales online. There is so much to learn, from social media to search engine optimization to pay-per-click advertizing, and the list goes on. In all of this, it’s easy to forget about the simple things.

To help you generate business from your Web site, here are five simple (yet often forgotten) things you can do today to promote your agent site:

1. Have a site you’re proud of!
If your site hasn’t changed in a few years, doesn’t look professional, has broken links, or just doesn’t reflect your business, you’re not going to promote it. Launching a new professional Web site is easier than ever, so if you aren’t proud of your Web site, it’s time for a new one.

2. Put a link to your Web site in your e-mail signature
You never know where your e-mails are going to end up. From a family member to a friend, your customers and prospects are already forwarding your messages. Make it easy for people receiving your e-mail to learn more about you by clicking through to your Web site.

3. Add your Web site address to your business cards, letterhead, brochures, and every other piece of paper that leaves your office.
Make it easy for your prospects and customers to learn more about you. When a prospect receives your card or a letter, they may want to “check up” on you before contacting you directly. 4. Send an e-mail out to all of your customers and prospects whenever you add useful information to your Web site.
When you add something useful to your Web site, spread the word. Even if people don’t click through to your site from a single e-mail, letting them know about new and useful content reminds them that your Web site (and not somebody else’s) is the place to go when they have insurance questions.

5. Update your site frequently.
New content gives your customers a reason to come back to your site. It also gives you a reason to talk about it. Set a schedule, whether it’s weekly, monthly, or quarterly to add a piece of useful content to your Web site.
