On August 21, at the Covenant House crisis shelter in New York City, Paul Avenius, CLU, ChFC, of Guardian Life Insurance and a member of the Million Dollar Round Table Foundation, presented a $10,000 check to Covenant House to help heal the physical scars of the homeless youth who find help at Covenant House.

“It is an honor to represent the MDRT Foundation in presenting this grant to Covenant House to help improve the range of community-based health care services,” said Avenius, a 13-year MDRT member. “It is the goal of MDRT members to give back to their communities and improve the quality of life for those in need. We are proud to help young people get off the streets and regain their health at Covenant House so they can build new lives.”

Founded in 1927, MDRT is an international, independent association of more than 38,000 of the world’s best life insurance and financial services professionals from 476 companies in 76 nations and territories. “This grant was made available through the donations of MDRT members, and it reflects the caring and sharing spirit our members exhibit in their profession, in the industry, and in the lives of others,” said Avenius.

“We are so grateful to Paul and all the MDRT members for this very generous grant,” said Simone Thompson, Director of Program Operations for Covenant House New York. “The health care needs of kids coming off the streets into our shelters are urgent, and this will be an incredible gift in the lives of so many kids in need of care and counseling.”

This year, the MDRT Foundation will award more than $1 million in grants to more than 100 charities. MDRT connects its members from around the world to promote best practices so they can better serve their clients.
