Carrier Puts Worksite Critical Illness And STD On Same App

Conseco Inc. is introduced a pair of voluntary, employee-paid supplemental health insurance products.

Conseco Insurance Company, a unit of Conseco Inc., Carmel, Ind., will be selling the Conseco Worksite Critical Illness insurance policy and the Conseco Wage Guard short-term disability insurance policy.

Conseco is selling both products through the same application, and producers can use the application to sell both products at the same time, the company says.

Triggers for the critical illness policy include cancer, heart disease, kidney failure, loss of sight, and a major organ transplant.

Workers can get up to $20,000 in guaranteed issue coverage, with a maximum benefit amount of $75,000.

Employer groups must meet minimum participation levels to qualify for the guaranteed issue coverage.

The new STD policy can weekly income benefits in the event of total disability caused by a qualified sickness or injury.

The product offers a choice of “nonoccupational” or “24-hour” coverage.

Benefit amounts can range from $70 to $1,700 per week, and Conseco will offer guaranteed issue coverage for up to $700 in benefits per week for groups that get at least 25% of the eligible employees to participate, the company says.
