AIG Unit Scoops Up Technology Firm

A retirement plan vendor has acquired the assets of Acumen Financial Group from KPMG L.L.P.

AIG VALIC, Houston, is a retirement plan services arm of American International Group Inc., New York.

Acumen is a KPMG unit that develops technology companies can use to share customized information with large numbers of financial consultants, employer customers, employee customers or other constituents through print, electronic mail or Web sites.

AIG VALIC is not disclosing the price of the deal or other terms.

AIG says it will be giving Acumen the name “AIG Acumen.”

Acumen has supplied the financial planning software used by the AIG VALIC national sales organization since 2000, AIG VALIC reports.
