Humana Reports Higher Profits, 13% Gain In Revenue Per Member

NU Online News Service, July 28, 2003, 5:43 p.m. EDT – Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky., is reporting $69 million in net income for the second quarter on $3 billion in revenue, up from $45 million in net income on $2.8 billion in revenue for the second quarter of 2002.

The managed care company ended the quarter providing or administering major medical coverage for 6.6 million people, about as many people as it covered a year earlier.

Average commercial premium revenue increased to $660 per insured commercial plan member, up 13% from the average for the second quarter of 2002.
